Manual therapy includes soft tissue mobilization, therapeutic massage, manual stretching, and joint manipulation. These interventions typically help restore mobility, decrease tension, and improve blood flow. Sometimes manual therapy is complemented by instruments such as scraping tools and cupping.
Physical therapists are trained in gait and posture assessment to help you identify potential issues and improve. You will also have access to our Fit3D Body Scanner to help assess and track postural improvement.
Dr. Petersen is certified to perform dry needling which is similar to acupuncture but with a musculoskeletal emphasis to achieve relief from functional limitation and pain. It may also be used to complement your rehab program in recovery from injury or impairment.
Therapeutic exercise involves assessment of current techniques for correct performance. Dr. Petersen will test individual muscle strength to track progress for improvement. He will also ensure adequate core stability/engagement throughout, which is also a key component to any successful exercise program.
Dr. Petersen is trained to treat balance issues and may be able to significantly reduce your vertigo symptoms with one treatment, depending on the type. He has years of experience treating various vertigo and balance impairments, including BPPV, vestibular hypofunction, and others.
Neurological rehab and neuromuscular re-education is when your PT retrains the nervous system to improve the communication between nerves and muscles, restoring normal movement patterns, coordination, balance, and muscle strength. It is used after injuries, surgery, or with neurological conditions to help regain lost motor control, prevent chronic issues, and improve overall functional movement.
